“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. and if you block it, it will never exist… the world will not have it.”

About

About Yoga:

Although yoga is a physical practice, it can have more far-reaching effects. Working with correct alignment improves posture, tones muscles and restores healthy breathing as well as improving strength and flexibility.

As we learn to become more aware of our mind and body in the practice, we can release deeper tensions, so that after a session we feel more energised with a clearer perspective and a feeling of being more in tune with ourselves. In short we can become more comfortable in our own body.

About Ann-Marie:

I have been teaching yoga in and around the Plymouth area since 2004 and have taught people of all ages, in health clubs, adult education, schools and colleges. I started to practise yoga over 20 years ago, when I had a busy and stressful life working as a lawyer, initially as an aid to relaxation. I then discovered that yoga can be both calming and uplifting.

I trained originally with Duncan Huilin at the Devon School of Yoga and since have attended a variety of workshops/retreats with some inspirational teachers. I enjoy blending the different styles of yoga which I have found the most beneficial and enjoyable. At its’ heart yoga is an individual practice where we can learn to bridge the gap between mind and body to more fully experience the present moment.

Information

Things you need to know:

  • Please wear comfortable clothing you can stretch and move in.
  • Avoid eating a meal two hours before a class and snacking for an hour before.
  • I supply yoga blocks and straps but please bring a mat, or something comfortable to lie on.
  • Please inform me of any medical condition or injury that may impact upon your practise.

And most importantly yoga is not a competitive practice. I hope that in the classes you will find the time and space to allow yourself to develop and explore the yoga postures at your own pace.
